“Save Me” is credited online as being released in 1999 but it has the year 2000 on CD/insert. A little known fact, there are actually two versions of Double Odd – West Coast Livin. One was released in 2000 and the second one has a completely different insert with “CD In-Stores Now Double Odd – Back In Business”, which would put that release at 2011. Both have the same tracks, just minor CD and insert differences. Gangsta Nutt is featured on too many other CDs to name, but as I post them they’ll all be linked back to this post. So for all you fans you should be able to listen to all his joints! Here is just a taste, this is off the popular, Choose Up Comp, “Get On Your Hustle feat. Gangsta Nutt, C4 & Tear Drop” Speaking of taste, does anyone out there know if Mr. Taste was later to be known as Tasty T? Seems too much of a coincidence to have such a similar name and be featured throughout G-Nutt releases. If anyone knows leave a comment. Finally, here is a bio from Reverbnation:
“Lanell Jackson p/k/a Gangsta Nutt hails from the High Point Housing Projects on the westside of Seattle. Gangsta Nutt began rhyming at the age of 15. He has been and remains influenced by iconic artist such as the late great Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
Known as the “Town Vet”, Nutt describes himself as the “scribe of the ghetto”; based upon his true experiences, both personal as well as what he has bared witness to. He has been exposed to all of the various circumstances and conditions of the “ghetto experience” and became a product of his environment, for better or worse. It displays itself in his graphic and often controversial depiction of those experiences. Even though Gangsta Nutt’s “ghetto experience” has seen its share of adversity, he says he doesn’t regret any of its negative elements, because it has made him the Man, the Father as well as the MC that he has become… ‘the ghetto made me’, he boasts in one of his many honest and candid depiction of the harsh realities of those experiences; as only Gangsta Nutt can. Gangsta Nutt has been compared to the great rap lyricist Scarface of the “Ghetto Boys” fame for his rough and rugged style, yet smooth and concise flowetic delivery. Early in his career Gangsta Nutt garnered the attention of Pointside Records, where he appeared on the group ‘Self Titled‘s debute album, Hustlin-n-Hell. Not even a year later Gangsta Nutt soon went into the studio and completed his debute LP “Save Me” (1999) which has become a “hood classic”.
Since then Gangsta Nutt has gone on to record and release nine (9) more albums, including four (4) solo efforts. Releasing “Crown Roy’ale” (2003); “The Rebirth” (2004); “Checkmate” (2004) and four (4) duo albums; “West Coast Livin”(2000) and “Back In Business” (2012) as Double Odd w/ Tasty T & Trey Blacc (2012); as well as “The Shakedown” with Mr. Jonez and “Thug Status: Active” with Twin G, as well as a group album; “West Coastra Nostra: Townbusiness”, along with his solo effort; “West Coastin” (2011). Gangsta Nutt has recorded with some of the Hip-Hop/Rap Industry’s finest Artist such as E-40, Bun B of UGK fame, Kurupt of the Dog Pound, David Banner, Da Brat, Bone Crusher, Yukmouth and C-Bo, along with working with platinum producer Jazzy Fizzle.
Determined and focus, Gangsta Nutt is ready to put his stamp on the Pacific Northwest Hip-Hop/Rap Industry with several future projects, such as the group album dubbed; Double Odd w/ Tasty T & Trey Black; “G.A.S: Last of a Dying Breed” (with S-Loc and A-Train) as well as his highly anticipated solo project. Gangsta Nutt is signed to Center Stage Entertainment Group, LLC.

Not much more I can add to the bio above except sadly Gangsta Nutt passed away in June 2021.
From ReverbNation: “Mr Jonzes first published work was released in 1999. Mr Jonze was first featured on a song called Da Twist on an album titled Save Me by Gangsta Nutt. Mr Jonze recorded his first solo song called Haters, which was placed on a Pointside Records compilation titled Out Tha Trunk Muzik. Mr Jonze has also done work with BigCity Record Fellas recording group who released The Shakedown, a Mr. Jonze & Gangasta Nutt group album. Other collaborations that Mr. Jonze has been involved in consist of collaborations with other artists such as Yukmouth and Cocain. Mr. Jonzes latest project entitled Paper, is to be released from smashmouthmuzic206LLC.” You can download most of these albums at Bandcamp with the exception of “Shakedown. His bio on Bandcamp states, “Mr Jonze is originally from Watts, California. In 1984 Mr. Jonze moved to Seattle, Washington. Mr. Jonze discovered his passion for music at the age of 16….” Mr. Jonze can also be found featured on other Gangsta Nutt albums as well as some Duranged Pitt albums. Besides the Out Tha Trunk Muzik compilation, he’s also featured on two tracks from the Disc Two of the Choose Up Compilation. Clearly, he’s still making music to this day which is always nice to see! As always, leave a comment if there’s anything more to add.
This star studded comp was produced by RC da Tracaholiq. Curious if anyone knows, did Blacksapphire, Chedda Hound or Maine 1 ever release solo albums? If so, I’d love to get my hands on their music. The rest of the artists featured on this compilation have all released solo albums (linked up eventually!).
