Before I dive into who Dirty O is, I’m pretty sure those track listings are not correct and some of those tracks are from his group West Coast Nostra, so any help with correcting these two albums would be appreciated. These two albums are both on my want list, since as you can see I only have some messed up mp3 tracks. Everyone must check out Tha Hood is Everything. Not only does it go hard, but I love how old the video looks!
I’m sure always being introduced as someone’s brother gets old, but his brother is part of the story, so there’s no way around it. Dirty O, Omaree A. Johnson, is the younger brother of former Dallas Maverick point guard, Seattle native Jason Terry. Jason Terry formed the independent record label Tha Reason Records in 2005. Dirty O is part of the Reason Gang who under Tha Reason Records was the first group signed. They were called West Coasta Nostra. It featured four former gang members of varying affiliations from Seattle, WA and Tucson, AZ- Gangsta Nutt, Rob Rollie, Dirty O and Blu Tha Young Vet (Tucson) – who have made peace between themselves and seamlessly meshed to form a hip-hop group.
Below are some vids to enjoy and they also confirm the tracks are not right on the ‘albums’ I have. These videos are posted by Dirty O himself, some are off the Pay Dirt album + some extras. His MySpace page also has these tracks from the Pay Dirt album; “Fresh Like A New 100” and “Dirty Bandana”. On a somewhat non-related side note, can’t forget the Dallas hip hop duo, Trilli Trill (J-King & Deezy Deville) and their song, “Do The Jason Terry“, it was also on Dirty O’s MySpace page.
And finally, here’s an interview with Squeek Nutty Bug and Dirty O. It’s mostly Squeek but the host, Janet Christensen Obrien, of Public Interest Issues makes a good effort to include Dirty O.
To end it, here are a few more Dirty O videos and links for ya: Instagram (private), Soundcloud, and X.
Black Senate – Rep Where You From (CDS) (Seattle, 2008)
Trama (of Black Senate) – Rescue You (Clean) ft. Ike James & Beezie 2000
Black Senate – Rep Where Your From
Black Senate consists of two brothers originally from Brooklyn; Trama & D-Lo. The third member is Contajus. Black Senate has released two mixtapes; The Seattle Project Vol.1 & Vol. 2. Based on YouTube activity it looks like they’re all still doing their thing. If Black Senate has released any more albums I sure don’t know about them. All members went on to put out solo products and numerous features on other NW artists albums. If there’s anything else you’d like to add, leave a comment!
If live music is your thing then there’s plenty to choose from; Black Senate performing at different venues across the NW. Live at Club Waides. Live at KUBE93 Summer Jam 2011. Live at JR’s. Live in Olympia. Live at the Columbia City Bourbon Bar. Live at 88 Keys. Live 4-15-2017. J-Mar celebration party Live at the Factory Luxe 2023.
From Reverbnation: “Growing up in Brooklyn, New York has put Trama in a position to reach the fans of hip hop with his lyrical punch lines and well put together metaphors in his charming but gangsta-like swag. He has a group called Black Senate, which he is CEO and co founder. He currently has a distribution deal with the Warner Music Group. Trama is working on a solo album called Follow Suite, which is on Black Senate Entertainment. He currently has two mixtapes with Black Senate called The Seattle Project Vol 1 and 2. His latest solo project is called All Gas No Brakes, a mixtape featuring DOA” Apparently, Trama (James Jones) has one more album called, Honer Over Money that he has mentioned a few times and there’s this video but I’m not sure it was ever released. The Follow Suite Mixtape was on Datpiff back in the day, I’m not sure if that was considered the album referenced above or if that album did get released and I’ve just never been able to find it! The group Black Senate also has two other members, his brother D-Lo and Contajus. Finally, Trama also has a song called “I Run It” on a 2009 DJ Pheloneous Mixtape called, Something 2 Drive 2 Vol. 2. He’s also featured on a song called “Freaks Is Out” by northwest artist B-3 (B3 The Shark). Leave a comment if you know anything else about Trama!
Check more vids of Trama with Black Senate on mroxdadon1 YouTube channel! You can also find some random newer singles from Trama on most major streaming outlets.
“Save Me” is credited online as being released in 1999 but it has the year 2000 on CD/insert. A little known fact, there are actually two versions of Double Odd – West Coast Livin. One was released in 2000 and the second one has a completely different insert with “CD In-Stores Now Double Odd – Back In Business”, which would put that release at 2011. Both have the same tracks, just minor CD and insert differences. Gangsta Nutt is featured on too many other CDs to name, but as I post them they’ll all be linked back to this post. So for all you fans you should be able to listen to all his joints! Here is just a taste, this is off the popular, Choose Up Comp, “Get On Your Hustle feat. Gangsta Nutt, C4 & Tear Drop” Speaking of taste, does anyone out there know if Mr. Taste was later to be known as Tasty T? Seems too much of a coincidence to have such a similar name and be featured throughout G-Nutt releases. If anyone knows leave a comment. Finally, here is a bio from Reverbnation:
“Lanell Jackson p/k/a Gangsta Nutt hails from the High Point Housing Projects on the westside of Seattle. Gangsta Nutt began rhyming at the age of 15. He has been and remains influenced by iconic artist such as the late great Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
Known as the “Town Vet”, Nutt describes himself as the “scribe of the ghetto”; based upon his true experiences, both personal as well as what he has bared witness to. He has been exposed to all of the various circumstances and conditions of the “ghetto experience” and became a product of his environment, for better or worse. It displays itself in his graphic and often controversial depiction of those experiences. Even though Gangsta Nutt’s “ghetto experience” has seen its share of adversity, he says he doesn’t regret any of its negative elements, because it has made him the Man, the Father as well as the MC that he has become… ‘the ghetto made me’, he boasts in one of his many honest and candid depiction of the harsh realities of those experiences; as only Gangsta Nutt can. Gangsta Nutt has been compared to the great rap lyricist Scarface of the “Ghetto Boys” fame for his rough and rugged style, yet smooth and concise flowetic delivery. Early in his career Gangsta Nutt garnered the attention of Pointside Records, where he appeared on the group ‘Self Titled‘s debute album, Hustlin-n-Hell. Not even a year later Gangsta Nutt soon went into the studio and completed his debute LP “Save Me” (1999) which has become a “hood classic”.
Since then Gangsta Nutt has gone on to record and release nine (9) more albums, including four (4) solo efforts. Releasing “Crown Roy’ale” (2003); “The Rebirth” (2004); “Checkmate” (2004) and four (4) duo albums; “West Coast Livin”(2000) and “Back In Business” (2012) as Double Odd w/ Tasty T & Trey Blacc (2012); as well as “The Shakedown” with Mr. Jonez and “Thug Status: Active” with Twin G, as well as a group album; “West Coastra Nostra: Townbusiness”, along with his solo effort; “West Coastin” (2011). Gangsta Nutt has recorded with some of the Hip-Hop/Rap Industry’s finest Artist such as E-40, Bun B of UGK fame, Kurupt of the Dog Pound, David Banner, Da Brat, Bone Crusher, Yukmouth and C-Bo, along with working with platinum producer Jazzy Fizzle.
Determined and focus, Gangsta Nutt is ready to put his stamp on the Pacific Northwest Hip-Hop/Rap Industry with several future projects, such as the group album dubbed; Double Odd w/ Tasty T & Trey Black; “G.A.S: Last of a Dying Breed” (with S-Loc and A-Train) as well as his highly anticipated solo project. Gangsta Nutt is signed to Center Stage Entertainment Group, LLC.

Not much more I can add to the bio above except sadly Gangsta Nutt passed away in June 2021.
Self Tightld was from the C.D. (Central District) and the members were Maine 1, 2Elevn, Popsykle, Sikface and Rob Doe. Definitely legendary music and a must have for any music collection! All their music was released on Pointside Records. Brothers Popsykle (Arvelle Beaver) and Sikface (Lamar Beaver) eventually went on to create their own group, V.O.H.T. and continued to stay active in the Seattle music scene. For a review of Hustlin-N-Hell head over to Town Love and read Novacaine123’s write up. And if you’re feelin’ Self Tightld there’s plenty more music from the Pointside camp on 2Elevn’s Reverbnation page! Additionally, you can pick up their music on all major music platforms. Both Problems CDM and the 12″ are on my want list. I can’t believe I missed “Problems” CDM for 75 cents on Discogs, DOH!
On a sad note, two members, Rob Doe and Popsykle have since passed, R.I.P.
I don’t remember how I ended up with this song, but leave a comment if you know anything about it or any other info on Self Tightld for that matter!
This star studded comp was produced by RC da Tracaholiq. Curious if anyone knows, did Blacksapphire, Chedda Hound or Maine 1 ever release solo albums? If so, I’d love to get my hands on their music. The rest of the artists featured on this compilation have all released solo albums (linked up eventually!).
