So I had to get DJ Peg up since I’ve always enjoyed his mixes. I have a few but knowing what a staple he is in the Seattle hip hop scene I bet I haven’t even scratched the surface. In fact, the Hood Classics Three Mixtape is on my want list if any one has a copy! So it had been a minute since I’ve taken a look to see what’s new with him and damn, he has a whole series of NW interviews with MCs, promoters, artists, producers and DJ’s. ‘A weekly podcast representin’ Northwest Hip Hop culture. Fresh Out Tha Northwest was created by DJ Peg to shine a light on emcees, DJs, producers and promoters from his region.’ Needless to say I’ve been trying to get through them as fast as I can! Not only is this a great way to pay tribute to so many of these greats, as you’ll see, but it gives us all a chance to learn more about them, so a big shout out to DJ Peg for this! Plus it helps me with more info. on these artists to pass on to you guys. Win/win! So moving on to a little about DJ Peg, from his own page:

Contajus

Contajus – 4 Track (Seattle, 200x)

  1. C.O.N.T.A.J.U.S. (Clean)
  2. Make Me Feel (Clean)
  3. Crying Inside (Clean)
  4. Crack Music (Dirty)

Wes Carnegie better known as Contajus was one of three members belonging to the group Black Senate. This is his one and only solo album I believe. Besides this album and some features there’s not much more I’ve ever been able to find on him. He’s certainly lyrically talented so if you haven’t had a chance to hear him, make sure to check him out. He’s also featured on several other NW albums, here’s a sampling : Consise – Keep On Movin’ On Ft. Aro, Contajus & Krookid / Rise And Consise – Try It ft. Contajus / Rise And Consise – Long Time Ago ft. Contajus & Angela T / Rise And Consise – Story Of A Man ft. Contajus / Rise And Consise – Murderous Murderaz feat. Contajus / Consise – We Are The People ft. Contajus & Aro / Aro – Don’t Worry ft. Consise & Contajus / Consise – Change ft. Contajus.

And if those vids weren’t enough Rise Productions has quite a bit of his music.

Contajus – Let Me Know
Contajus – Unreleased Track
Contajus – Hello
Contajus – Consistently Hot

From Reverbnation: “Growing up in Brooklyn, New York has put Trama in a position to reach the fans of hip hop with his lyrical punch lines and well put together metaphors in his charming but gangsta-like swag. He has a group called Black Senate, which he is CEO and co founder. He currently has a distribution deal with the Warner Music Group. Trama is working on a solo album called Follow Suite, which is on Black Senate Entertainment. He currently has two mixtapes with Black Senate called The Seattle Project Vol 1 and 2. His latest solo project is called All Gas No Brakes, a mixtape featuring DOA” Apparently, Trama (James Jones) has one more album called, Honer Over Money that he has mentioned a few times and there’s this video but I’m not sure it was ever released. The Follow Suite Mixtape was on Datpiff back in the day, I’m not sure if that was considered the album referenced above or if that album did get released and I’ve just never been able to find it! The group Black Senate also has two other members, his brother D-Lo and Contajus. Finally, Trama also has a song called “I Run It” on a 2009 DJ Pheloneous Mixtape called, Something 2 Drive 2 Vol. 2. He’s also featured on a song called “Freaks Is Out” by northwest artist B-3 (B3 The Shark). Leave a comment if you know anything else about Trama!
